As vehicles become more and more complex, energetic sub-assemblies (engines, transmissions, after-treatment…) interact and need to be developed as dynamic systems. Numerical simulation for system design, set-up and control strategies help to reduce the development cycle and cut global costs. IFP and LMS Imagine are developing simulation tools focusing on performance, consumption and emissions for conventional and hybrid vehicles. This paper describes the IFP-EXHAUST library, which is part of this simulation environment and which is dedicated to the detailed simulation of engine exhaust lines and particularly pollutant after treatment components.
