Belgian Government provides Multi-million Euro Co-finance Support from its Airbus 380 Technology Development Program
LMS International today announced that the Belgian Federal Government recently approved to co-finance the development of LMS Virtual.Lab for Aerospace, a dedicated virtual simulation suite for aircraft and space system development. LMS Virtual.Lab for Aerospace offers an integrated solution to simulate component and full aircraft performance, and addresses specific development challenges such as the structural integrity of airframe designs, the dynamic performance of landing gear and slat systems or the vibro-acoustic comfort of the aircraft cabin. The co-finance backing from the Belgian Government is part of a large-scale business and technology development program that enables Belgian high tech companies to bridge the considerable pre-investment of participating in the development of the Airbus A380 aircraft. Through programs like this, the Belgian Government aims at supporting the growth of the aerospace high-tech industry in Belgium.
“Since the high-tech industries represent an important driver for economical growth and employment, the Belgian Federal Government implemented several instruments that enable Belgian technology companies to explore new markets, exploit international business opportunities and engage in long-term development projects. More specifically, we developed a dedicated program to encourage Belgian high-tech companies active in the aerospace industry to engage in the multi-year Airbus A380 development program ” commented Marc Verwilghen, Belgian Minister of Economy, Energy, Foreign Trade and Science. “In this context, we decided to grant active support to one of our leading technology companies, LMS International, and to co-finance the considerable investment LMS is making in its dedicated virtual simulation suite for aircraft and space system development.”
Urbain Vandeurzen, LMS CEO and Chairman concluded: “We are delighted with the co-finance support that the Belgian Government granted to the development of LMS Virtual.Lab for Aerospace. First of all, it strongly helps LMS in bridging the considerable pre-investment in research and software development in this long-term technology project. Secondly, it strengthens our company in building up strategic relationships with leading aircraft manufactures such as Airbus, and in fortifying the position of LMS as leading supplier of engineering software solutions to the aerospace industry.”
