“The pressure in noise and vibration engineering is rising at a rapid pace. Customers demand better, more refined products. Legislation dictates ever-tougher noise and vibration requirements. With Revision 6 of LMS Test.Lab we continue to support our user community in accelerating their testing processes and in raising the productivity of their testing facilities,” commented Filip Pintelon, Corporate Vice-President and General Manager of the LMS Test Division. “With new applications, over 600 new and enhanced features, Rev 6 aims at supporting engineering teams in gaining deeper insights from less prototypes in less time. This enhances the proven track record of LMS Test.Lab to efficiently detect the best problem fixes and pro-actively optimize the NVH performance of mechanical designs.”
NEW – LMS Test.Lab Rotating Machinery delivers 30% productivity gain
With its new architecture for rotating machinery testing, LMS Test.Lab reduced the total elapse time for data acquisition, analysis and reporting with over 30%, while covering even more demanding test scenarios. LMS Test.Lab Rev 6 provides extensive real-time visualization capabilities, while delivering a complete result set immediately after the measurement. LMS Test.Lab Rotating Machinery covers a wide range of applications starting from basic 4-channel order analysis or torsional vibration test scenarios to over 1000 channels for jet engine or turbine testing. The LMS SCADAS III front ends are tightly integrated with the Test.Lab software, and tuned for mobile as well as complex lab testing. The LMS SCADAS V12 module, a 12 channel voltage/ICP/TEDS conditioning module, boosts to up to 192 channels per frame. V12 offers the unique combination of low power consumption with high analog and digital performance. Direct connection with tri-axial connectors is standard and brings a substantial reduction of the instrumentation effort.
NEW – Full structural testing capabilities trace the root cause of noise vibration problems and assess design fixes on the spot.
LMS Test.Lab Structures Rev 6 represents the most comprehensive, state-of-the-art solution for structural testing and analysis, covering both modal and operational modal testing applications. LMS Test.Lab embeds leading-edge modal technology in easy-to-use application workbooks that capture all process steps, including test preparation, setup, acquisition, processing, analysis, reporting and data sharing. The crystal-clear LMS PolyMAX stabilization diagrams greatly simplify the analysis process and eliminate the operator dependency of the resulting modal model, also for complex and highly damped structures. LMS Test.Lab Rev 6 features new sine testing capabilities that enable users to improve the efficiency in identifying the structural characteristics of a mechanical design, especially for analyzing non-linear behavior. Rev 6 offers new modification prediction capabilities, allowing quick ‘what if’ studies and supporting testing teams to easily explore alternatives to optimize the dynamic behavior of designs. This includes features like optimization algorithms for connections points, online FRF synthesis to evaluate the effectiveness of the patch, automatic ‘tuned absorber’ tuning, quick ranking of multiple modifications etc.
NEW – Complete solution for pass-by noise testing compliant with the current and new ISO362
Complying with pass-by noise legislation is imperative for car, truck, motorcycle and recreational vehicle manufacturers to bring their products to market. In spite of efforts to set realistic acoustic radiation targets for individual components and to meet these targets “by design”, a lot of pass-by noise problems are identified while testing the prototype. Changing regulations further increase the complexity of the problem. The ISO362 standard, which is the basis for most pass-by noise legislation, has recently been reviewed to represent more realistic driving conditions. The LMS Test.Lab Pass-By Noise System offers a complete solution for the evaluation of vehicle noise emission against predefined targets or legislative standards like the ISO 362, SAEJ 1470, and new revisions of the ISO 362 Standard which are about to become applicable. The LMS Test.Lab system combines powerful and easy to use acquisition capabilities with a complete tool set for the in-depth engineering analysis of noise emissions. The LMS Test.Lab Pass-By Noise System guides the user through the software in an intuitive way from test setup, over measurement and analysis, up to the final data comparison and reporting. Test.Lab provides online feedback to the driver on the progress and the quality of the measurement. This strongly increases testing productivity and reduced room for human errors.
NEW – LMS Test.Lab Environmental lets the system do the work.
LMS Test.Lab provides a powerful, high-speed multichannel vibration control system, easy to use with extensive data analysis capabilities for random, shock, sine, and combined modes tests. The LMS Test.Lab system also provides a high performance on-line data reduction of random, sine, transient and acoustic signals. Rev 6 introduces the LMS Test.Lab Environmental Test Sequencing that supports the definition and execution of a series of closed loop Vibration control tests in a user-friendly way. For a smooth and unattended batch execution, the workbook supports mixing all test modes, Do-loops, pause commands and a variety of self check options. In addition, it is possible to automatically run MS Windows programs as part of the schedule. This can be used to control other equipment in the lab, synchronize vibration testing with functional or climatic testing, or keep the operator up to date on the progress of the test sequence using email or wireless messages.
