This miniature shaker was developed by LMS Engineering Services to perform highly accurate structural excitation in a minimum of space. It provides excitation, but with extremely low mass and stiffness loading of the test-object. The system includes integrated force and acceleration transducers. This allows the engineer to obtain driving point FRFs in a very fast way. The force generated by this structural exciter is not huge, but it is sufficient for the excitation of car bodies, engines, transmissions, machinery, etc.
The minishaker is especially suitable for those who are planning to perform Experimental Modal Analysis, TPA, Frequency Based Sub-structuring and experimental SEA.
The miniature shaker is designed to introduce force where conventional shakers don’t have access and impact hammers are unpractical like connections from suspension/exhaust/powertrain to the body. The excitation device, including the sensors, is designed within a sphere of 41 mm providing a perfect solution for all those hard-to-reach excitation locations.
It improves the efficiency of testing by eliminating all of the support and alignment work associated with shaker testing - it is self-supporting so there’s no need for any external support. To increase measurement speed, the shaker can be glued to the test object easily and fast. The shaker is self-aligning meaning; when the device is mounted to the structure, the force is aligned along the axis of excitation saving additional setup time.
The Minishaker can be controlled by Test.Lab Structures (link) together with a LMS Measurement Amplifier. Both the integrated transducers are ICP-type sensors and are compatible with the SCADASIII input modules.
