As flight control actuation systems become more complex, a multidisciplinary approach is needed to understand the interactions between diverse systems including electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and control systems. In addition, the development of flight control actuation (FCA) systems is being transformed by its integration into computer aided engineering process. The paper presented the application of multidisciplinary CAE tools in the design of a leading edge slat. The paper demonstrated the power of integration of Electrical and Hydraulic components of a FCA modeled in LMS Imagine.Lab AMESim and its integration into LMS Virtual.Lab for different attribute analysis like flexible multi-body analysis, stress analysis, and fatigue damage prediction.
