High-performance closed-loop control -
LMS Test.Lab Vibration Control leverages the performance, precision and stability of the LMS SCADAS III controller system to deliver optimal loop speed and maximum safety. The LMS SCADAS III system has been specifically designed for noise, vibration and shock testing and is optimally tuned to meet the specific vibration qualification needs using electrodynamic shakers and hydraulic actuators. The system incorporates the latest 24-bit ADC and DAC technology and is adapted to drive both electrodynamic shakers and hydraulic actuators.
LMS SCADAS III achieves high-level reliability through rigorous design standards, efficient quality control and a strong service organization. The LMS quality standards are the outcome of more than 25 years of experience in signal conditioning and processing.
LMS Test.Lab Vibration Control solutions include the LMS SCADAS 302VB which is delivered with the necessary DAC output sources (VDAC), a 4-channel measurement module (SP92-B and PQA) and UTP or SCSI interface to connect to the host computer. The system can be expanded to an 8-channel configuration.
Total security in all control modes
Optimal integration between the controller and the LMS Test.Lab software and the electrodynamic shaker or hydraulic actuator ensures total security and performance in all control modes. In addition to raw control speed, the system offers plenty of safety features built into the hardware and the software to ensure a safe and reliable control loop: from comprehensive pre-test checks, to continuous overload monitoring and multi-point control, up to a controlled shutdown if any of the limits are exceeded. Dedicated hardware circuits guarantee smooth shutdown of the output signals, even in case of power failure, to protect the structure under test.
- Tapered start-up / shutdown
- Transducer integrity check and visual channel mapping
- Continuous overload monitoring
- Expandable with hardware emergency stop
On board real-time performance
The powerful on-board DSP processors guarantee safe, fast and accurate closed-loop control from 0.025Hz up to 20 kHz. Several measurement functions are calculated simultaneously for all selected channels without any negative impact on the control algorithm performance. While graphics related processing is reserved for the host, the local digital processing units of the LMS SCADAS III system are used exclusively for control loop processing. This assures accurate control and data acquisition. The additional source channels (COLA - Constant Output Level Adaptor - and status) allow to perfectly synchronize measurements with external systems or to connect a stroboscope for deformation visualisation of the component under test.
- Control bandwidth up to 20 kHz
- Extra slave outputs for external synchronization (COLA and status channels)
- Up to 204.8 kHz sampling rate and 32K blocksize for unmatched resolution span
- Online spectra, PSD, FRF (with phase) and coherence
- Simultaneous sine estimators: Harmonic, RMS, Average, Peak, THD
- Continuous overload monitoring
- Time history and Shock Response Spectrum (SRS)
24 bits resolution for optimal measurement quality
The integrated signal conditioning and direct connection of each transducer to the inputs eliminates interconnection problems, such as hum, noise, and ground loops which are typically associated with multiple units or breakout boxes. Calibration is performed on a module-by-module basis and is an entirely digital process. This ensures high quality data over an extended testing period, or when cards are swapped over. The electrical outputs of the VDAC analog source channel deliver a real-time high resolution voltage signal suitable for driving both electro-dynamic shakers and hydraulic actuators. To ensure a true replay of the original signals, ultra-low distortion digital interpolation filters are used. The digital processing units (SP92-B) are true 24 bits four-channel acquisition and signal-processing modules including anti-aliasing filter.
- Integrated signal conditioning (AC, DC and 4mA ICP supply)
- Full 24 bit technology (DAC / ADC / DSP)
- 105 dB signal to noise ratio
- Individual programmable input range (±62.5mV to ±10V)
