The low pressure side of diesel fuel systems has an important impact on the overall capabilities of the injection system. The design of the low pressure side can greatly impact the temperature conditions in the rail and in the tank. Physical testing of the complete fuel system for observing temperature and thermal behavior is a long and expensive process, especially in the case of cold starts at low temperature. CAE and simulation tools have, in this case, an important added value. A tool to perform a thermal analysis of the complete fuel system is presented in this paper. Cycles leading to high temperature, along with cold start cases, are discussed.
