Sound power measurements in a modal laboratory, using acoustic Frequency response functions
Sound power measurements are typically performed in specialised facilities; anechoic rooms and reverberate rooms. Intensity measurements are also used for the same purpose in nearly arbitrary acoustic conditions. A specific application required an alternative approach, where a simplified implementation of the multiple substitution monopole method is used. This application involves car engine components and engine assemblies. These components are excited artificially either structurally by internal small shakers or acoustically by volume velocity sound sources.
