The LMS Test.Xpress Sound Power is a powerful tool to certify compliance of a sound source against prescribed noise specifications, compare the noise emissions from different models of the same product as well as engineering quieter equipment.
The LMS Test.Xpress supports Sound power measurement in free-field conditions, semi-anechoic and reverberant rooms according to ISO 3741 (comparison method), ISO 3744, ISO3745 and ISO3746 standard (determination of sound power levels of noise sources using sound pressure). Based on pressure measurements, spatially averaged sound pressure levels are measured while the equipment is operating in a known acoustic environment. Radiated sound power (i.e. total acoustic energy output per second) of the equipment is then calculated from the sound pressure measurements and knowledge of the acoustic environment. Once sound power measurements conforming to ISO standard are taken, they can be used to qualify for compliance with the 2000/14/EC directive for outdoor equipment or the ISO7779 standard for Computer and Business equipment.
The LMS Test.Xpress Sound Power software guides the operator throughout the ISO based measurement by simplifying the selection of the measurement surface (spherical with 1, 2 or 3 reflecting planes or rectangular), setting up the acquisition parameters, calibrating the microphones, taking the measurements, and producing the reports according to company and/or ISO standards. Built on the powerful LMS SCADAS Mobile front-end, it is possible to select microphone set up for the 6/12 and the 10/20 channel configurations that are used in different international standards. In the absence of sufficient microphones, The LMS Test.Xpress Sound Power software supports measurement in different batches that can be combined into a single measurement file at a later stage. Direct measurement feedback is given in real-time through graphical displays as well as color-coded optical feedback that clearly indicates measurement status, quality and ISO compliance.
To ensure compliance with ISO measurement process and to minimize operator error, the complete procedure (from measurement to reporting) is fully automated and protected by a user-defined password. The automation tool allows test definition with specific measurement settings, preferred data visualization format, appropriate numerical functions for data analysis and a company/ISO style report.
