The LMS Test.Xpress Modal Impact Testing is a powerful tool for structural testing using impact hammer excitation according to “roving hammer” or “fixed hammer” measurement techniques.
The LMS Test.Xpress supports interactive and easy measurement based on a work-flow user interface providing user guidance for each step of the modal impact testing.
The calibration wizard guides the user through the calibration process. A dedicated worksheet gives a clear view of the calibrator, channel information and data visualization in time and frequency domains.
Impact hammer trigger detection that could be cumbersome in modal testing is fully automated through trigger detection wizard. Based on a number of trial hammer hits, the operator can simply deduce correct trigger level for the actual impact testing.
Selection of correct windowing parameter on force and response time histories is supported through the graphical comparison of windowed and un-windowed time data. Adjusting the percentages for force reference window and exponential decay response window as well as energy or amplitude correction enables the operator to select appropriate window settings in time and frequency domains.
Direct measurement feedback is given through graphical displays of time signals, spectra, FRF and coherence and optical indication of trigger, overload and average status. Automated tool to reject incorrect hits and point increment to cover large measurement location are fully integrated in the software.
The LMS Test.Xpress software offers a complete set of processing functions beyond those required for the modal impacting testing. These functions allow additional data analysis in time, frequency, octave and order domains. Both stationary and transient analysis of the data is possible. Batch processing allows execution of a pre-defined function set on multiple measurement datasets.
To minimize operator error, the complete procedure (from measurement to reporting) is fully automated and protected by a user-defined password. The automation tool allows test definition with specific measurement settings, preferred data visualization format, appropriate numerical functions for data analysis and a company style report.
The acquired data can be immediately processed with the LMS Modal analysis solution. The Modal Analysis offers various fast and accurate single or multiple reference parameter estimation algorithms, and a complete set of modal model validation tools, such as MAC and FRF synthesis.
