LMS Virtual.Lab Morphing allows engineers to modify and morph existing meshes, independently of the functional performance attributes they are used for. It eliminates the need for remeshing and preserves the integrity of the model.
The user first imports the mesh to be modified or morphed, along with the target style, if available. The easy-to-use interface guides the user in choosing a control mesh zone, a deformable mesh zone and a fixed mesh zone. The user performs the morphing by moving the control zone and then applies various criteria to check the quality of the mesh for simulations and any local changes needed. The resulting mesh can be exported, or be used directly for noise and vibration, durability or other analyses.
In the early concept phase, engineers can develop complete simulation models by morphing a predecessor model to the target style. This allows them to perform a multitude of analyses before the first complete CAD or FE models become available, and to deliver better design directives much earlier in the process.
LMS Virtual.Lab Morphing also enables the engineering team to rapidly implement design changes, like an increased wheelbase or a change in an aircraft wing design, directly on the simulation model. This offers them the possibility to study more variants in the same time window, to gain more insight in the behavior of their design, and to give better design directives.
