Sound Source Localization - Tractor wheel suspension noise: Beamforming + near-field focalization

This example analyzes the noise emission of an off-road tractor’s wheel suspension, measured in stationary condition and at maximum rpm, first from the far field (at 84 cm) using the beamforming technique, and then in the near field (at 26 cm) using near-field focalization.

The left figure 14 shows a far-field view of the suspension. Beamforming reveals sound sources on the left. Moving into the near field, using near-field focalization, clearly indicates that sound sources are located at the fluid entry and exit connections of the damper.
